Looking for an apartment can be an exciting yet potentially daunting task. Generally the best properties are rented first so it’s important to be prepared and organised by looking for an apartment as soon as possible. We advise making a list of what is important to you in finding your new accommodation.
Most cities have established areas where like-minded people tend to prefer to live. If you’re not aware of these locations already, speak to your employer, university and/or people you know who have knowledge of the region to help identify the best locations.

Safety & security
At Q One Residence we go beyond the minimum standards. YPP, our exclusive lettings agents, are part of the Property Redress Scheme which is a government authorised consumer scheme which helps advise on issues that may arise during your tenancy. YPP are also compliant with the Leeds Landlords accreditation scheme and the Residential Landlords Association.
For our tenants' safety, we have 24-hour CCTV and manned security vehicles which move between sites. However we always advised that you lock windows and doors when your property is unattended and do not tamper with safety equipment which is installed in your property.
The United Kingdom Government has a guide on how to rent a property. Please see the following link:
When renting an apartment most accommodation providers will not include the cost of extra services. It is important to check on each apartment you are interested in if they include the following:
Energy Bills which may include Gas, Electricity & Water.
TV License (Generally an optional fee).
Internet/Digital Television (Generally an optional fee).
Contents Insurance, this is an insurance which protects your possessions if there is a theft or accidental damage of your items. Generally a rental accommodation provider will not include this as standard, however the property itself will be insured.
Council Tax, whilst students in full time education do not currently have to pay for council tax. Those that are not do. This can vary dependant on the property’s Local council banding.
